A trip back to a time of handmade guitars and the music community circa 1980s New York
In Person: Master Luthier Tom Ribbecke
From the reclaimed “bones of the city”, aka the centuries-old Adirondack pine that built old New York, woodworker Rick Kelly has been crafting original guitars since the late 1970s at Carmine Street Guitars in Greenwich Village, instruments which have been revered by aficionados like Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Jim Jarmusch, Bill Frisell, to name a few.
Ron Mann’s endearing documentary captures five days in the life of Kelly’s storied shop.
