Poetry reading including a rare California appearance by the Irish peacemaker
Our collaboration with the Marin Poetry Center is cause for celebration. They’re bringing us fabulous events, like this series, which provides a unique opportunity to hear diverse and unusual sets of readers, pairing local and out of state or out of country poets.
Pádraig Ó Tuama is a poet and theologian who lives in the north of Ireland. For the last five years he led the Corrymeela Community, Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organization. As a gay Irish Catholic man his poetry deals with questions of language, politics, conflict and faith in the contemporary world. This reading is a rare California appearance for Ó Tuama.
Matthew Siegel is a former Stegner Fellow at Stanford. His book Blood Work was shortlisted for The Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection. He teaches at San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
