MESO-AMERICAN CLAY INSTRUMENTS clay workshop with Ernesto Hernandez-Olmos

MESO-AMERICAN CLAY INSTRUMENTS clay workshop with Ernesto Hernandez-Olmos

Presented by Liz Lauter at Liz Lauter

These ancient instruments are still played in ceremonies and celebrations in different native communities around the world. Myths and legends will be shared during class to appreciate the meaning that these instruments had to our Indigenous ancestors.

Ancient instruments and replicas will be displayed and played.

Ancient legends of music from Toltec, Aztec, Zapotec and Mayan cultures will be shared.

Our instrument making will help us understand the importance of music as we connect our spiritual and physical energy. As the day progresses, your creativity will be stimulated and your hands will shape instruments.
