Historic photographs, rarely seen maps, and text – the fascinating story of early Bolinas
Exhibition Dates: August 17 - December 29
Everyone entering Bolinas traverses the fertile flatland between the hilltop Catholic Church and the far hill leading toward downtown.
This is Gospel Flat, the heart of early Bolinas history.
Home to generations of indigenous Coast Miwok people, in 1834 it became the center of Rancho Las Baulines.
By the 1870s it was thought of as the township’s center— with its school, post office, businesses, homes, and the three churches that led to the name.
With historic photographs, rarely seen maps, and text this exhibition enlivens a familiar landscape with the fascinating story of its occupants who helped define Bolinas.
