Peter Pike Jr. – California Bound

Presented by Marin History Museum at San Rafael Elks Lodge

Enjoy an evening with local author Peter Pike Jr. as he presents stories from his book California Bound.

The Marin native follows his family's roots from the California Gold Rush to the Great Depression and on to the start of the second World War.

Join his ancestors on their journeys, sailing around Cape Horn, traversing the Great Plains, panning for Gold in the Sierra foothills, camping in Yosemite Valley.

From their early days in eastern parts of the state, the Pikes headed west and went on to build a shipping and lumber empire.  With his fortune, Roy Pike developed El Solyo Ranch - a 4,500-acre ranching operation that had its own grocery store, blacksmith, and fire department.
