The book becomes art at MarinMOCA’s 11th Annual Altered Book Exhibit and Fundraiser
Marin’s most unique art show features 150 original book art objects, crafted by artists who combine provocative messages with inventive technique.
Each year, MarinMOCA supporters buy the artworks using a silent bidding process which requires multiple visits to the museum.
This year, MarinMOCA is making it easier and safer for fans to buy the “book” they love. Each artwork will have a “Buy it now” price, enabling the customer to purchase and take the artwork home immediately.
Also, up to 10 people at a time will be admitted to the gallery to promote social distancing.
Donna Seager, owner of Seager Gray Gallery in Mill Valley, and Mary Austin, Co-Founder of the San Francisco Center for the Book, will select the award-winners, and give a livestreamed Art Talk at 5pm on July 25.
The exhibit lasts through August 29, and is open Wednesday through Sunday utilizing safety protocols recommended by the County. Art-lovers can collect an original Altered Book and support the museum in a safe, enjoyable way!
