A Digital Exhibit Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Rita Abrams’ song “Mill Valley”
While our building still remains closed to the public, the Lucretia Little History Room is creating digital exhibits celebrating Mill Valley's history using items from our permanent collection.
Today, we are happy to announce the opening of the digital exhibit Talkin' 'bout Mill Valley which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the release of Rita Abrams' undeniably catchy hit song "Mill Valley."
On December 25, 1969 then-Strawberry Point schoolteacher Rita Abrams penned an ode to Mill Valley, the town she had come to call home the year before. Abrams's song went on to become an international hit. Through our digital exhibit, you will learn about the song's incredible history and its lasting cultural impact through clippings, photographs, correspondence and video.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of journalist, melophile and longtime Mill Valley resident Leonard Anderson's Oral History interview with Rita Abrams, which is part of the History Room's growing Oral History Collection.
