Do you want to effect change in our society? In preparation for the 2020 presidential election, we have selected four books related to civic-mindedness.
Topics to be explored are the current global political climate, voting rights and history in the United States, inequalities in the political and economic systems, and alternatives for our future.
Join facilitator Sarah Broderick and your neighbors to address the issues.
Sarah Broderick works as a writer, editor, creative writing instructor, and part-time assistant at the Mill Valley Public Library. She is a rotating editor at The Forge Literary Magazine and served as Diaspora Editor for Lavil: Life, Love, and Death in Port-au-Prince.
September 16: Twilight of Democracy by Anne Applebaum
October 7: Our Time is Now by Stacey Abrams
October 28: The System: Who Rigged It, How We Fix It by Robert Reich
November 18: Humankind: A Hopeful History by Rutger Bregman
Once you have registered, our staff will help make a copy of the book available. Please commit to reading the book and attending the discussion if you register as supplies and space are limited.
