LOCAL>> Celebrating “Allies, Ancestors and Angels” – artist/writer J. Ruth Gendler

Presented by O’Hanlon Center for the Arts at Streaming Arts

In this online Zoom talk to accompany her exhibit, opening Thursday, October 15, Allies, Ancestors and Angels J. Ruth Gendler discusses her current work in painting and printmaking, and reads some new poems and “Qualities”.

Gendler will also reflect on how creative practices offer solace and wisdom in these mysterious, difficult times.

Gendler writes, “Trained first as a writer and then as an artist, I feel like I speak two distinct languages. I am not translating between them much as traveling between the Country of Art and the Word Lands.

Making art invites me to look more deeply and tenderly at the world around me and also the world inside, to draw closer to nature, and find new ways to root and take nourishment from light. Often my art goes out ahead of my writing, and slowly I begin to understand what  my pictures are saying.”
