Drawing the Fruits of Fall in colored pencil
With Nina Antze
Friday, October 30, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

Draw the first fruits and berries, persimmons of fall or the last fruits of summer—tomatoes, apples or other delights from the gardens or the vegetable basket. Perhaps even a rose hip. Enjoy a few peaceful, meditative two hours doing colored pencil work. Basic color pencil and botanical techniques will be covered, all levels welcome.

Fall Leaves: An introduction to painting plants with watercolors
With Sally Petru
Friday, November 6, 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Learn the basic techniques for creating a botanical painting. This 2-hour workshop will be an exchange of demonstrations and exercises designed to promote your understanding of how to develop a botanical painting. Have a fall leaf ready at hand for the class. Sally will guide you through measuring and drawing your leaf onto watercolor paper followed by the application of watercolor from wet to dry brush. All levels are welcome. A materials list will be provided.

Exploring Plants Through Sketching
With Lee McCaffree
Saturday, November 14, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

Let’s look at leaves and fall plants from our neighborhood.  We will focus on seeing details to understand how the world of botany works. Are they big, little, round, pointed, flat, thick, simple, or complicated? The workshop will look at the characteristics of plants by observing and doing simple drawings in pencil and ink. This will help you create plant images through sketching and line drawings. All levels welcome.
