Debut novelist Aya de Leon writes about race, gender, and culture.  She teaches poetry at UC Berkeley and is a former artist in residence at Stanford University.  Aya and Maria will discuss de Leon's first novel, Uptown Thief, delving into the story's artful blending of social justice with a juicy heist in the same narrative.  The event is free and open to the public.
