Artist Statement:
I started the Artifacts project in the spring of 2020. Being on lockdown and needing to keep my creative juices flowing I joined the O’Hanlon Photography Group. For one of the zoom meetings there were prompts as fun photo projects and one was to photograph objects from your kitchen. I set up a mini studio on my dining room table using a cardboard box and a few sheets of printer paper, and a couple of strong flashlights. After I had exhausted everything interesting in the kitchen, I went through my toolbox, my office supplies and ornamental objects around the house.
Dan Cassidy was born in London, England in the early ‘60’s and moved to the US in 1991. He attended art school for photography at CCAC in Oakland in the early 2000’s. These days his artmaking practice includes painting, printmaking, collage, and photography. He has taught collage and photography at The O’Hanlon Center and will teach Gel Printing there as soon as it is safe to do so.
