We are thrilled to welcome Leanne Betasamosake Simpson as the keynote speaker for our upcoming MFA in Creative Writing Residency.
This event is open for public registration, but the week-long residency is limited to MFA students.
Leanne will discuss her recent novel in the context of Nishnaabe oral practice, aesthetics and storytelling, generative refusal and world-building.
Leanne is a renowned Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg scholar, writer and artist, who has been widely recognized as one of the most compelling Indigenous voices of her generation. Her work breaks open the intersections between politics, story and song—bringing audiences into a rich and layered world of sound, light, and sovereign creativity.
