Sarah Shepard Gallery is pleased to announce its second solo exhibition with California painter Serena Mitnik-Miller.
Introducing new relationships between the earth tone and sea blue color palette she is known for, this body of work is uplifting and inspiring. Her artistic practice is inspired by a visual journey led by a meditative spirit. Beginning with pencil drawings, Mitnik-Miller carefully chooses her watercolor pigments to co-exist together on the paper in a composition of interlocking patterns of color and concentric shapes.
Mitnik-Miller finds plays with the balance of negative space, form and density while maintaining her signature minimalist and timeless style.
Serena Mitnik-Miller was born in 1981 in Massachusetts and moved with her parents to Hawaii at a young age. She graduated in 2008 from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a BA in Photography and Printmaking. Serena co-founded General Store in San Francisco & Venice, a carefully curated destination for local designers. She co-authored Abode: Thoughtful Living with Less in 2019. Mitnik-Miller has collaborated with many brands on artistic projects, including Vans. She was an artist-in-residence at Art Park in Byron Bay, Australia, and at Facebook. Her work is included in the Art In the Embassies collection in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
