A special reading event of the gently abridged “A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens”
A special reading event in our own Corte Madera Store. Don't miss out!
When Charles Dickens published “A Christmas Carol” in 1843, it was 28,000 words. Dickens knew that was too long for an audience to sit through, so when he read it for an audience --- and he performed it 127 times --- he cut it in half.
Now, just as Dickens did, Jesse Kornbluth has abridged the holiday classic. His 13,000-word text and Paige Peterson’s vibrant illustrations make this a new classic.
Jesse Kornbluth has been a Contributing Editor of Vanity Fair and New York Magazine, and has written or co-authored a dozen books. He has been Editorial Director of America Online and now edits a cultural website, HeadButler.com.
Paige Peterson has had numerous gallery shows in New York and California. The Guild Hall Academy of the Arts in East Hampton has honored her with a lifetime membership. She is the Author and Artist in Residence at Literacy Partners. She is the author of “Growing Up Belvedere-Tiburon” and the co-author and illustrator of “Blackie, The Horse Who Stood Still.”
