Veteran celebrity profiler Ruthe Stein has reveled in the company of these stars, plus 90 more like them in her new book Sitting Down with the Stars: Interviews with 100 Hollywood Legends.
In this book, Ruthe looks back on her experiences conversing with the beautiful and celebrated and recalls details of what transpired behind the scenes. Her goal is make readers feel they are in the room where the exchange happens.
Ruthe Stein is the founder and co-director of the Mostly British Film Festival in San Francisco. She covered movies for the San Francisco Chronicle from 1970-2020. She is the author of the self-help book "The Art of Single Living." She wrote a singles column that was syndicated in 30 newspapers in the U.S. and Canada. She teaches film at the Fromm Institute at the University of San Francisco.
Barbara Lane is the books columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle and director of events at Copperfield's Books.
