LOCAL>> Impossible Belonging, a Reading and Discussion with Poet Maya Pindyck

Presented by Dominican MFA in Creative Writing at Streaming Arts

Virtual author event
*Tuesday February 28, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Join us to hear Maya Pindyck read and discuss her newest book, Impossible Belonging which won the 2021 Philip Levine Prize for Poetry. The book explores what it means to belong-- to our bodies, our cultures, our histories, and to each other.

Carmen Giménez Smith writes, "Maya Pindyck's Impossible Belonging is a collection of elemental folklore conceived from the inside and outside of bodies and the yearnings that shape them. Diaspora is complicated by the Anthropocene in this prescient collection. Pindyck unpacks the stories we shake off to seek out our own paths as mothers, Americans, as artists, and sisters with urgency and hope. At the same time, Impossible Belonging honors those legacies through the tender utterances of these crystalline poems."

Location: Online via Zoom. Link will be sent via email to registrants.

Hosted by Dominican University of California's MFA in Creative Writing Program
