Docent Talk: Ansel Adams in Our Time

Presented by Novato Library at Novato Library

* Saturday, May 27 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Docent Jim Kohn will discuss the more than 100 works on exhibit in San Francisco’s de Young Museum by photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams.

The exhibit, which runs from April 8 through July 23, features some of the most-loved photographs by Adams, including images of Yosemite, San Francisco, and the American Southwest.

In the exhibit, Adams’s works are shown alongside prints by 19th-century landscape photographers, such as Carleton Watkins and Eadweard Muybridge, as well contemporary artists like Trevor Paglen, Will Wilson, and Catherine Opie.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Novato Libraries

Jim Kohn was a professor in the English Department at San Francisco State University from 1975 to 2013. Since 2006 he has been an active docent at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, giving tours and lectures on current and permanent exhibitions.
