Jeff Derby Quartet

Saxophonist/pianist, composer and educator Jeff Derby has been active on the Bay Area jazz scene since 2006.

He graduated with honors from Sonoma State University with BAs in jazz studies, music education, and a single subject teaching credential, and in addition to performing, Derby teaches middle school music in Marin County.

He draws inspiration from different jazz musicians and composers such as Kenny Garrett, Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, Horace Silver, and Wayne Shorter.
