Art Talk: Ed Hardy and the Art of the New Tattoo

FAMSF Docent, Kathryn Zupsic will present the work of renowned tattoo artist and California native Ed Hardy.

She will describe how his art elevated the tattoo from its subculture status to an important visual art form.

The Ed Hardy: Deeper Than Skin exhibition at the De Young (July 13 – October 6) surveys Hardy’s life in art that has as its inspiration both traditional American tattooing and Japan’s ukiyo-e era culture.
