Crossroads Poetry Workshop: Inspired by O’Hanlon w/ Kristan Ruona
Come learn more about the community at the O’Hanlon center and explore poets who have found inspiration in the arts
Poets through the ages have found inspiration within artistic communities and spaces–and from the visual artwork of their peers.
In this workshop we will spend time looking at poets from across generations–from the modernists to today–who have been sparked in this way.
A guided tour of O’Hanlon will allow us to seek out our own poetic inspiration. Afterwards we will spend time workshopping and sharing our poems together as we strengthen our understanding of what inspirational community means at O’Hanlon.
Kristan Ruona studied art and creative writing at San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Art Institute. She spent time in residency at the Vermont Studio Center. Her writing has appeared in Phoebe, Santa Clara Review, Dallas Review, Mary: A Journal of New Writing and others, and placed in the best Short Short Story Contest in the world. She was an assistant editor at Five Fingers Review and has a book of poetry titled Why We Light Candles.
