Dr. Orin Carpenter
Local artist, Dr. Orin Carpenter, will discuss his work.
Artist Talk:
* Saturday, February 17, 3:00 pm
Exhibition Dates:
* February 11 – March 14
Orin Carpenter is a Marin based artist. He will discuss his process and commitment to creating socially conscious work. His powerful work has been exhibited in various galleries and most recently at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.
His current exhibit, Obsidian: New Artworks, will be on display from February 11- March 14, at the Corte Madera Library during open hours.
Dr. Carpenter writes:
Obsidian is a protective stone, known for its ability to block, absorb, and transform negative energy. Like obsidian, African Americans have found ways to withstand countless brutal attacks on our spirit, mind, body, and soul, while transforming the negative energy created by these traumas, in a continual fight for equality and equity. Through these images, I hope you can see in my depiction as an artivist, the ability of a people to endure, elevate, educate, and evolve regardless of the battles endured
