Gary Muszynski and Friends: A Global Acoustic Music Concert

Gary Muszynski

Acclaimed award winning world musicians will perform in Fairfax’s Peri Park on the Redwood Stage

Peri Park Concert
* Sunday, August 13, 4:00 pm

Join Gary Muszynski & Friends under the redwoods for an extended set of music from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Ireland, Spain, Zimbabwe, and Planet Handpan!

You can anticipate a rich mix of bolero, bossa, baiâo, samba, Latin jazz, flamenco, tango, jigs, and improvisations from Planet Handpan.

The band featured:

  • Gary Muszynski on world percussion and handpan
  • Carlos Caminos from Venezuela on guitar, a master of samba, flamenco, tango, and Joropo
    from his native land.
  • Chloë Scott Jones on flute, a virtuoso known for her affinity for Latin rhythms and song forms.
  • Joseph Hebert, a classically trained cellist equally comfortable in improvisational settings. Joe recently performed with Jon Batiste at Carnegie Hall and is back from a recent tour of Ireland.
  • Special guest, Kai Eckhardt (John McLaughlin trio, Garage Mahal) on bass.Yes, that Kai, who toured the world for 10 years as the bassist in the epic John McLaughlin trio with Trilok Gurtu, and more recently, with his own group, Garage Mahal.

If you want to have your mind blown, musically speaking, check out the McLaughlin trio album, Live at Royal Festival Hall. You will never be the same afterwards.

Last year’s event was very healing for many people — and very popular. (We can all use music during these challenging times.)

Come early (around 3:00 pm) to grab a space. Bring a blanket, a cushion, your family, friends, and neighbors, and a picnic. Fairfax is one of the best places in the world for healthy and delicious food.

Stop at the Good Earth in Fairfax for treats to enjoy during the concert. Afterwards, head to Lotus Cuisine of India in Fairfax or San Rafael for some of the best Indian food anywhere.

Join us under the redwoods at Peri Park for an afternoon of uplifting global acoustic music made by master musicians (and me, Gary Muszynski).

This concert is made possible with a generous grant from the Peaceful World Foundation through the Intermusic SF artist affiliate program. Special thanks to Isthmus Instruments, DeVore Fidelity, Lotus.IndianCuisine, and Fairfax Park and Recreation.
