Gustavo Ramos Rivera is a greatly revered painter, sculptor and master printmaker.

Born in 1940, Rivera has worked and exhibited in San Francisco since his arrival from the city of Acuna Mexico in 1969.

His work is a unique fusion of lush colorful patterns inspired from the brightly painted housed of Mexican villages and the traditional folk art and costumes that surrounded him as a young man.

He combines this with a vigorous expressive painting style influenced by New York Abstract Expressionism and Mexican Modernist painters.
