iPhone Photo App Lab w/ Glenda Gentry & Daniel Patrick

Make amazing photos with your smart phone!

“So many photo apps. So little time. Which ones to choose?”

The App Lab grows out of OHCA’s “Seeing with the iPhone” class and builds on use of the iPhone’s always-improving “native camera” and its numerous functions.

We’ll explore several excellent, photo-based applications that lend themselves specifically to creative image making and will provide opportunities to become experienced in use of Snapseed, Camera+, TouchRetouch, and others.

Familiarity with the native camera will be an advantage but is not required.

The laboratory environment will include several presentations and will provide opportunities for examination of these apps to encourage individual and group experimentation.

Participants will need to purchase 4 or 5 low cost applications plus a thumb drive.

8 students max.

Glenda Gentry loves making photographs, both digital and analog. She studied photography at the San Francisco Art Institute, participated in the Ansel Adams Workshop, and has studied with Paul Caponigro, Linda Connor, and Michael Kenna. She taught photography for about 15 years at Redwood High in Larkspur.

Currently, she has set her other cameras aside and is using her iPhone exclusively. She has facilitated at OH since 2016 with the “Seeing with the iPhone” class. She is a member of the O’Hanlon Photo Group, the Photo Fourm and the Artists of Mt. Tam.

A few years ago Daniel Patrick began to take photos exclusively with his iPhone. “The ease, exceptional quality and photo-journalistic opportunity quickly became apparent. By using special apps I was often able to re-interpret the image to make it unique and personal.”
