Though Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, the principle of diversity is enshrined in the national motto, “Unity in Diversity.” 

After a brief historical introduction, we will explore Islam in this context of cultural and religious diversity through poetry and art, including the shadow theatre of Java.
