Islam and Diversity in Indonesia Through Poetry and Art with UC Berkeley Professor Sylvia Tiwon

Though Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, the principle of diversity is enshrined in the national motto, “Unity in Diversity.”

After a brief historical introduction, we will explore Islam in this context of cultural and religious diversity through poetry and art, including the shadow theatre of Java.
