Patricia Marina - Art As Medicine

My creative expression has become visible in this world through the use of mixed media collage. Making art is medicine.
I have created two types of collages for this show.

The first incorporates paint and the layering of paper and other embellishments on canvas, watercolor paper or wood panels. Combining elements in a natural way brings me the peace and joy of nature itself.

The second are ceramic plates that I have attached to wood panels, each opening symbolically as one plate is cradled within another and held by the glue of love. Each plate supports each other in what I call the ‘Circle of Life’.

The creative process is a priority in my life; it is a portal to knowing myself on deeper levels and has enriched my life a thousand fold. It’s a holy experience of play calling in the Muse and then seeing what develops. My art often captures or expresses a moment in time. I strive to grow with each piece I produce and draw my inspiration from the natural world. In this environment my heart has broken open with joy.
