Patti Trimble, History of Flowers 3, oil on linen, 38" x 31"
An exhibit of paintings & text, telling three stories from science, philosophy, intuition, & walks
Exhibition Dates:
* March 23 – April 28, 2024
Gallery Route One presents The History of Nature, by visiting artist and poet Patti Trimble, is an exhibit of paintings and text, telling three stories from science, philosophy, intuition, and walks in the wild.
The History of Nature (according to me) unearthed three histories: the history of the forest; of the radiant evolution of flowers; and of the puzzle (so far) of humans.
The narrative is to be continued. But so far, I think that all of everything—every intelligent form and wondrous ongoing living process—was an engineering feat of cells. I learned this by storytelling. Eons are long and we have barely arrived, and the cell is the best proof of intelligent life on Earth.
Artist Bio:
Patti Trimble made her first oil painting in second grade. It was the sacred heart of Jesus. Her interest in natural science grew from a childhood of wandering the Marin hills and high Sierras.
She studied environmental science at UC Berkeley and worked as a seasonal interpreter for Point Reyes Seashore. In her early twenties, she turned to art, with surrealist John Anderson as a mentor.
She moved to Manhattan where for a decade she showed paintings and worked asa part-time studio assistant to abstract expressionists James Brooks, Hedda Sterne, and Richard Pousette-Dart.
Her paintings were nominated for an award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and she received an MFA from Hunter College.
