* Saturday, May 11, 3:00 pm

Poets Hannah Yerington (Bolinas) and Tess Taylor (Berkeley) invite you to the Bolinas Museum Courtyard for an afternoon of poetry: a celebration of the natural world, motherhood, and multigenerational art.

In words that honor local produce, the act of gardening, and pleasure in this land we call home, the poetry will be in gentle conversation with the art of still-life artist Janis Yerington, who will concurrently exhibit it in the Coastal Marin Gallery.

Hannah Yerington is a local poet, award-winning author of Sheologies, and Director of the Bolinas Poetry Camp for Girls.

She holds an MFA in Poetry from Bowling Green State University. S

he frequented Bolinas Park in her high school years, selling poems from an old typewriter.

She writes about Jewish magic, talking plants, and teenage girl ancestors.

Tess Taylors body of work deals with place, ecology, memory, and cultural reckoning.  She has published five celebrated poetry collectionsThe Misremembered World, The Forage House, Last West: Roadsongs for Dorothea Lange, and Rift Zone, one of the Boston Globe’s best books of 2020.

Her book Work & Days was one of the NY Times’ best poetry books of 2016.

Her work as a cultural critic appears in Harper Magazine, The Atlantic, The Kenyon Review, Poetry, Tin House, The Times Literary Supplement, The New York Times, and CNN. She has taught widely, from UC Berkeley to Queen’s University Belfast.

She is currently at work on two plays, one of which is a stage adaptation of her book of poems about American photographer Dorothea Lange.

In the fall of 2023, she published her first full-length poetry anthology, Leaning Toward Light: Poems for Gardens and the Hands that Tend Them, a collection of contemporary gardening poems for an era of climate crisis.

She lives and gardens just outside Berkeley, California.
