First Tuesday ArtWalk:
* September 5, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Exhibition Dates:
* September 1 – November 30
Mill Valley artist Amy Cruz was born and raised in the South Bay, surrounded by a wonderful musical theater community. Her love for performing arts and everything behind the scenes continues to be present in her visual art today.
Making figurative paintings of teachers and performers, she is interested in the space where people share their passion with each other. Her work shines a light on the collaborative culture of creative learning in and out of the classroom.
Using acrylic on canvas, she honors big and small moments in her art. With her signature technique of overlapping layers, she is challenged to create balance among different living elements such as trees, plants and portraits. Living in downtown Mill Valley, Amy works from her studio in Sausalito, and is inspired by the thriving artistic community around her.

Rotating Art in the Depot Plaza is a program sponsored by the Mill Valley Arts Commission as part of our Art in Public Places initiative with the support of The Depot Cafe and Bookstore, and the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce. Over the course of twelve months, from March 2023 to June 2024, we are featuring work by artists Robb Havassy, Mary Lee Rybar, Mary Edwards, and Amy Cruz. Artworks will be presented in a rotating exhibition installed on the exterior wall of the Depot building, visible at the corner of Miller Avenue and Throckmorton Avenue, in Mill Valley.
