Loretta Loy-Adair is an oil painter whose early inspiration stems from her family’s rich artistic heritage. Residing in the picturesque wine country of Northern California for many years, Loretta has discovered inspiration and solitude within the stunning landscapes of the region.

While Loretta’s artistic repertoire encompasses a wide array of subjects, her primary focus has centered around the art of painting en plein air, or on location. This discipline seamlessly complements her studio painting, where she paints still life.

Loretta is most intrigued by direct painting, not only because it is challenging but she feels that the immediacy exposes the true emotion of the artist when making the visual connection.

Her hope is to capture and convey the essence and soul of her subjects, seizing a moment in time. Ultimately, Loretta aspires to impart a sense of peace and happiness to those who view her work.

Loretta has been painting for over 30 years. Her works have been sold in prominent galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Napa, Sonoma, and San Francisco, and were juried into the 2016 & 2017 Carmel Plein Air Competition and California Art Club’s City by the Bay exhibition.  Her work, Trixie was on exhibit at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art’s 2007 Juried Biennial Show.

Loretta is a member of the California Art Club.
