Jake Gotlieb

I am a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Greenbrae. I’ve played the piano and drums for more than a decade.

My musical taste is extremely varied and my works draw from artists that inspire me like Frank Zappa, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Ralph Towner, Keith Emerson, and numerous modernist classical composers.

I appreciate the natural beauty of the rugged parts of Marin, and I try to incorporate some of that into my music. Using instruments from a wide variety of cultures around the world is also an important part of my musical vision.

On the side, I am also interested in creative writing and currently working on a book of indeterminant length.
