Syzygy Dance Project
Syzygy Dance Project is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing dance to every body — helping people overcome physical, mental, and emotional challenges by connecting mind, body, and spirit through the power of movement. Syzygy Dance Project brings dance classes to diverse communities through the San Francisco Bay Area including veterans, inmates, recovering addicts, people living with chronic illness, and the elderly. We currently offer weekly outreach classes at the San Francisco County Jail, VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and Options Recovery Services in Berkeley.
SDP was founded by 5Rhythms® dance teacher Sylvie Minot, who is often described as a “catalytic shape-shifter” because of her ability to meet people right where they are and move with them into new possibilities. Sylvie has studied psychology, indigenous healing rituals, energy medicine, and sound healing and is inspired by the teachings of Angeles Arrien, Carolyn Myss, and Tito La Rosa. Since 2000, Sylvie has taught weekly dance classes and workshops for a variety of populations. Her offerings include weekly 5Rhythms Journey Beyond class on Wednesday evenings in Sausalito, Medicine Circle workshops, Syzygy Dance Project Outreach Facilitator Training, a Leadership in Motion program, private sessions and consultations, and many other workshops at various venues.
